(El Mercurio) <\/strong>The impacts of the country’s water shortage continue to affect the electricity sector. This was demonstrated in the first measurements carried out by the National Electric Coordinator<\/strong><\/a>The report was published by the National Hydrological Institute, which verified that the next hydrological year (April-March) will complete a decade of drought, considering the accumulated snow levels in the Andes Mountains, the main source of water supply for the country’s rivers and tributaries.<\/p>\n According to these indicators, the Maule basin – the most representative of the country and responsible for 25% of the water used – shows levels of 85% surplus, which implies that only 15% of the years included in the sample were drier. However, in other areas to the north, these levels even exceed 95%, as in the case of Rapel, or Aconcagua, which, however, have less weight in electricity generation.<\/p>\n
