The director of Systep and academic of the PUC thanked for the distinction granted in the framework of the conference on new trends in renewable energy, held in the northern country.
Hugh Rudnick received award in the U.S. for his professional contribution to the electricity sector
Systep director and Catholic University academic, Hugh Rudnick, received the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award from the international organization IEEE Power & Energy Society (IEEE Power & Energy Society Lifetime Achievement Award), due to his professional contribution to the electricity sector.
The ceremony was held in Chicago, as part of the conference on energy and new trends with renewable energy and storage, in front of 3,500 attendees, including some of the academic’s former students such as Sebastián Mocarquer, partner at Moray Energy Consulting; Rodrigo Moreno, academic at the University of Chile, and Rodrigo Palma, director of Serc-Chile.
The energy forum held in the United States is one of the most important in the world for sharing the latest technological advances in the electric power industry, along with the development of standards that guide the development and construction of equipment and systems, and to educate members of the industry and the general public.
In his thank-you speech after receiving the award, Rudnick emphasized his satisfaction at being accompanied by his former students, noting that through them he has been able to make contributions to engineering knowledge.
The IEEE award, which has more than 400,000 members in more than 160 countries, recognizes power engineers “for their long-term professional contributions “to the art and science of electric power.” It is awarded once a year, based on the recommendations of its peers, being the first time it is awarded to a Chilean professional.
In turn, the IEEE Power & Energy Society holds the world’s leading forum for sharing the latest in technological advances in the electric power industry, for developing standards that guide the development and construction of equipment and systems, and for educating industry members and the general public.
