and professor emeritus of Engineering at the Catholic University, Hugh Rudnick, was called by the President of Colombia, Iván Duque, to be part of a mission that aims to set the roadmap for the modernization of the energy sector of that country, where one of the goals is to ensure the availability of energy to meet the growing demand after the recovery of the Colombian economy growth.
According to the university, “the mission for the Transformation and Modernization of the Electricity Sector in Colombia is made up of 20 experts who will work on five “strategic focuses”: competitiveness, market participation and structure; the role of natural gas in the energy transformation and decentralization, digitalization of the industry and efficient demand management”.
Other experts in this group include Frank Wolak, Udi Helman, Paul Hunt, Thomas Mach, Lorenzo Kristov, Diego Jara, Pablo Corredor, Ana María Ferreira, Carlos Battle and Ignacio Pérez, who were selected with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the World Bank.
“In this mission, Professor Hugh Rudnick will be part of the team in charge of reviewing Colombia’s institutional and regulatory framework,” reported the PUC School of Engineering.
“It is an honor to have been invited to contribute to the energy development of a country that has so many renewable resources to explore,” commented Hugh Rudnick.
