The Systep Team is pleased to present the Chilean Electricity Sector Monthly Report.

August’s editorial is entitled “Modifications to DS125 and DS88: Are the right deadlines being considered? It analyzes the proposed changes to both regulations, which seek to provide greater equity and modernization to the electricity system. It warns that the new control and monitoring obligations for more than 900 power plants, as well as the incorporation of automatic dispatch schemes, impose demanding deadlines that could be difficult to meet in practice. In addition, it is pointed out that the reform of the stabilized price regime will reduce the revenues of the new PMGDs and PMGs, bringing them closer to the marginal cost. Finally, the success of these modifications will depend not only on their regulatory coherence, but also on the technical and operational feasibility of implementing them within the established deadlines.

In addition, the Report and electricity sector statistics are available for download in Excel format from our statistics web portal. Through this measure, we seek to facilitate the community’s access to information related to the electricity sector, for which we compile and organize the most relevant SEN data on a monthly basis:

Analysis of the operation.
Systep 12-months spot price forecast.
Summary by companies.
Auction prices.
Non-Conventional Renewable Energies.
Regulatory monitoring.
Projects in Environmental Impact Assessment.

We hope that this Report will be a contribution to the electricity industry. It is distributed on a monthly basis.
