The Systep Team is pleased to present the Monthly Report of the Chilean Electricity Sector (in Spanish).

This edition of the Report describes the strong penetration of Small Distributed Generators (PMGD for its Spanish acronym) observed in Chile in recent years. We analyze the main characteristics of these technologies, and the implications of the sales scheme chosen by generators, going for a stabilized price regime or a marginal cost one. Future challenges for PMGD are also outlined, including a review of the potential negative impacts on the system, and the alternative solutions from international experiences.
