The IEEE Power & Energy Society has awarded the 2017 IEEE Power & Energy Society Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Hugh Rudnick, Professor Emeritus at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Director of Systep.

The IEEE Power & Energy Society has awarded the 2017 IEEE Power & Energy Society Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Hugh Rudnick, Professor Emeritus at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Director of Systep.

The award recognizes exceptional power engineers for their outstanding long-term professional contributions to the art and science of electric power. Dr. Rudnick’s award citation reads, “For passion and unwavering energy in electric power engineering and for pioneering solutions in power system economics.”

The award consists of a sculpture, an honorarium and a travel stipend to attend the presentation ceremony, which will take place on July 18 in the city of Chicago, USA.

Dr. Rudnick has a long career as a researcher in energy issues, with a close relationship with the energy industry, to which he has made several contributions in technical, economic and regulatory matters. He has contributed to the development of energy policies at national and international level, participating in various public and private committees and study groups.
