The Systep Team is pleased to present the Monthly Report of the Chilean Electricity Sector (in spanish)

In this edition of the monthly report, it is analyzed how the decarbonization plan will impact over the greenhouse gas emissions and its effectiveness in reducing thermoelectric generation. For this, firstly the current state of the national energy matrix is contextualized and then a projection to 2025 of the operation of the SEN is made, considering the first phase of the decarbonization plan and including the new renewable projects that each company committed to install to replace the outgoing power plants. The projection is then compared with the scenario in which the plan is not integrated, analyzing the main factors that allow to modify the composition of the national electricity generation, emphasizing on how the integration of renewable energies affect. Finally, the importance of the role played by both the government and the private sector in the success of the decarbonization of the energy matrix is analyzed.
